Journey - Part 3

 DAY 24

"KOTA TUA AND MONAS"

DAY 24 - There was no scheduled tour in here. But I went to Kota Tua and Monas with Pak Daffa and Nanda.

Finally, we went to the old city famously known as Kota Tua. The place has so many stories to tell which made the Indonesian culture and history rich. I commend this country because they were able to preserve several types of artifacts, fossils, and arts throughout the year. Terimakasih, Pak Daffa and Nanda for taking me here. 😊 I learned a lot about your country.

(Me discussing the difference of artifacts and fossils to my student-buddies😁)

This is Monas. 😊😊😊 We cannot go inside its vicinity because it's under renovation. That's why we just took pictures near the gate. Regardless of that, I enjoyed going here.

 DAY 25

"ANCOL"

DAY 25 - We went to Ancol because we really want to see it. Pak Daffa and Nanda came with us.

I heard a lot about Ancol from Bu Jeanie. However, hearing it is not enough. As granted by Ma'am Nova and our student-buddies, we went to Ancol. It was our last tour because 3 more days, we will go back to the Philippines.

If Ancol is a person, I would like to tell him that I really have the best moments in here. He made my heart and mind calm down when I saw the view. He might be the last place that I visited during my stay in Jakarta, Indonesia but he really fulfilled my bucket list. Honestly, I want to stay here longer. I want to stare at the view and know more details why many people love to go here. But I guess, this visit has a limit. Thankfully, I can always come back and visit this place again, not as a student-teacher, but as a tourist someday. See you soon, Ancol. 😊

 DAY 26

"LAST DAY AT UBS"

DAY 26 - I never expected that this day was my last stay, otherwise, my last visit, in Uhamka Boarding School.

Before I left this place, I made some give as remembrance for the people who took part in this journey of mine. With the help of Sir Nanda, I was able to print pictures and buy some gifts for the students in UBS. At the back of the pictures, I wrote my messages to the people that I'll be giving the pictures to. I made my gift like this because I want them to remember me. I want them to remember that there was once a "Dayvie" whom they cared about, loved, and guided in their life. I really wanted to cry while writing those messages. But I don't want to mess it up, that's why I stop myself from crying. I really appreciate the people that I was with in Jakarta and Bogor, Indonesia. Thank you for everything. I mean it. 💗

I arrived at UBS at past 4:00 in the afternoon. The students and teachers in SMP Saintek - Uhamka Boarding School prepared a Farewell Ceremony for me. It was filled with love and appreciation because they really prepared a lot during this day. It was just heavy in my heart to leave them because I see them as my family already. At the end of the program, each class gave me a gift. Bu Jeanie and Tivia, Attar and Windy also gave me a scrapbook to read and see all our memories together.

(The students gathered in front of the school as we arrived)

Before I gave them my gift, I explained that Pencils are like them wherein they are also writing their own stories. Whereas erasers are like them too. If they commit mistakes, it's still fine. Because mistakes are there to make them learn, not to make them give up. If they did wrong, they could start over and over again.

(This is Athar. A really nice boy. When he doesn't have a class or any activities anymore, he would come and talk to me. Almost every day when I'm in UBS, he is always there asking me to share stories about the Philippines. He made a scrapbook containing the memories that I shared with them. The teachers told me that he made it overnight and finished it at dawn. I really appreciate your effort, Athar. I hope you'll become an international football player someday. 😊)

(Students doing Salim after they gave their gifts to me)

For the teachers and staffs, I gave them a photo with a message behind it. Those pictures can be kept by them so that the memories that we had together can be kept by them even if I have to leave them.

(This is me and my Resource Teacher. He is Mr. Fendy Arief)

(Mas Tamim, Me, and Pak Rudy)

(Pak Rahman, Bu Tivia, Me, Bu Jeanie, and Pak Rudy)

(Realizing that this is the last moment that I'll be in UBS, it really made me cry. Just by looking at the classrooms, teachers' room, and the hallway without me made my heart break.)

(Pak Daffa took my luggage back to Uhamka Rusunawa Dormitory)

These are the gifts I receive from the students and teachers at UBS. Thank you very much for these. I will treasure these things and will always remember you.

These are the gifts that they gave me before we parted ways. They gave me batik clothes, accessories, clock, food, coffee, and scrapbooks with good memories on it.

 DAY 27

"FAREWELL CEREMONY AT FKIP UHAMKA"

DAY 27 - We presented our experiences during the Farewell Ceremony.

Uhamka prepared a Farewell Ceremony for us. We also presented our experiences as a SEA Teacher in the school that we took our teaching internship. Together with the Dean, Headmasters, Faculties, and students are in the room for the ceremony. Moreover, Uhamka gave us a gift.

Ma'am Nova started the program by having the Dean deliver his Welcome Message. Then the headmasters in the schools that we were deployed in gave their speech too. After that, I presented my teaching experiences first. Then Ely and Ian.

(Ma'am Nova giving the Uhamka gift to me)

(Pak Rizki and I. He is the Headmaster at SMP Saintek - Uhamka Boarding School. He is a very down-to-earth person, kind, and easy-to-go-with type of person. In short, he is really a holistic person.)

(The three of us, SEA Teachers)

(Ian, Elly, Bu Nova, and Me after the presentation)

(Us and our student-buddies. From left to right: Elly, Nissa, Ian, Pak Azhar, Me, and Pak Daffa)

(Me and my student-buddy, Pak Daffa)

We also took a testimony video inside the Broadcast Room, took a Tiktok video in front of the campus building and a picture with Pak Azhar Nawawi.

As usual, we went to Ma'am Nova's office again after the program.

Terimakasih, Uhamka and UBS. 💓

 DAY 28

"LAST SUNSET IN INDONESIA"

DAY 28 - This was our last day in this country.

We prepared our luggages and we really felt sad. I I keep on crying on this day because it's so hard to imagine that after we leave, the office will not be the same anymore. It's so saddening and heartbreaking to think that the next morning, there won't be Ely, Ian, and Dayvie anymore.

Thank you for being with us for 28 days, Pak and Ibu. I will cherish every moment with you all. Thank you for helping us accomplish our Teaching Internship successfully. May God bless you all. 😊

Dayvie Mia G. Simon, SEA Teacher in Indonesia, now signing off.
